HBDI® Thinking Styles Profiling

The HBDI® (Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument®) is the world’s leading thinking styles assessment tool used by over 2m people worldwide and more than a third of Fortune 500 companies in the US.

Why use it?

The quality of everything we do depends on the quality of thinking we do first. The HBDI® therefore introduces the concept of the Whole Brain® advantage. The fact is that we all use our Whole Brain® but we often have strong preferences for using certain parts of our brain that we have developed over time.

By harnessing this understanding of peoples’ preferred thinking styles, tailoring your approach to reflect the people you are dealing with and learning how to access Whole Brain Thinking®, you and your teams can achieve unparalleled levels of resilience and success.

How does it work?

The HBDI® is an online self-assessment comprising 120 questions. The resultant report highlights the strength of preference for each of four distinct thinking styles as shown in the model on this page.

These preferences are mapped both under ‘normal’ circumstances and when under pressure to see the differences between the two.

Feedback on the report is given by a certified HBDI® assessor and coach. This ensures the feedback is handled sensitively and constructively. With different reports for individuals, pairs and teams the HBDI® dramatically increases self-awareness, promotes understanding and respect for diversity and helps people capitalise on complementary skills by playing to one anothers’ strengths.
